The water is lapping at my ankles now. There's no food but I'm not hungry. I think I'm done now.— Davidson's last message, December 1, 2077

Private Barry Davidson was a member of the Volunteer Artillery of the 5th Division of the Australian Defence Force. Stationed at Fort Nepean before the War, Davidson survived the initial nuclear strike on the Fort, however, he remained trapped in the underground tunnels. He died from radiation exposure on December 1st, 2077.

History[]

Barry Davidson was born on the seventh of February, 2058 to Mark Davidson and Louise Davidson. His parents worked as clerks in Melbourne and rushed into the CBD to the nearest hospital for their son's birth. Barry was then raised in the Hoddle Grid, attending primary and high school here.

Davidson's parents raised him simply, hoping to get him into a nice desk job like them. However, with the Resource Wars raging and Chinese troops threatening the Australian mainland, Davidson decided the best career for him after school was the armed forces.

Boom Go the Guns![]

Davidson joined up with the 5th Division, his local militia group. Due to achieving well in Mathematics at school (his parents had wanted him to become an accountant after all), the new recruit was put into the Artillery manning Fort Queenscliff and Fort Nepean. Here, he manned the guns overlooking the entrance to Port Philips Bay.

When the Great War struck, Davidson was hidden away in the coastal bunkers underneath Fort Nepean with the rest of his gun crew. The nuclear strikes on the Fort saw Davidson, Arnold and Micheal trapped in the small concrete room they slept in, the entrance having caved in. Davidson documented the lives and attempts of his brethren to break out of their concrete prison until all of their deaths due to dehydration on December 1st, 2077.

Appearance[]

Davidson was a tall, relatively attractive man before succumbing to radiation poisoning. Before suffering from exposure, he stood approximately 196 centimetres [~6'5"] tall with a mop of brunette hair and heavy stubble. Initially, he was a strong, well-built man, with months of hauling artillery shells putting muscle on his body. However, as radiation, dehydration and starvation took their toll, his body wasted away.

Inventory[]

As a member of the Australian Defence Force, Davidson was equipped in the same manner as his fellow squadmates.

Apparel Weapon Other Items
Combat Helmet
Combat Armour
.32 SMG

This equipment was supplementary to Davidson's primary role as a technician and as such saw little use. Instead, he got significantly more use out of his grease-stained toolkit and heavy artillery shells.

Notes[]

  • For Post-War historians, Davidson's terminal entries deep within the Head Hunters Camp are one of the best sources of knowledge of the Pre-War world--if they can get past the raiders to access them.
