Delaware, the "First State," was as the name implies the first state admitted to the United States of America. It is bordered by Maryland to the west and Pennsylvania to the north. Its capital was Dover.
The Cape of Delaware comprises roughly the southernmost third of the state, from Delaware Bay to the border of Maryland. The northern and western parts of the region are dominated by coastal plain, while the shoreline along Delaware Bay and the Atlantic Ocean is low-lying beach and marshland.
