A common household pet before the War, Shine-Fish have emerged as an unlikely survivor after it. Having been noted as an invasive species as owners tired of them and dumped them in lakes and streams, they have managed to adapt to non-native waterways.

Description[]

Shine-Fish are known (and named) for their distinctive scales, which have generally become a yellowish-red since the War, though orange, silver and gray Shine-fish are not uncommon. They can grow up to twenty inches in length, and thirty pounds, though some fishers have reported larger ones.

Behavior[]

Shine-Fish occupy their time swimming around, occasionally eating, or mating if it is season. They have no real sense of self or being other than to propagate their race.

Diet[]

Shine-Fish are omnivores, consuming insects, plant matter, and other fish. If no other fish are available Shine-Fish will eat each other, though this has been observed only a handful of times.

Offensive Capabilities[]

Shine-Fish rely on their speed and teeth to feed, though males have been observed ramming each other when competing for mates.

Defensive Capabilities[]

Shine-Fish rely on their speed and numbers for survival, hoping they can outswim and overwhelm predators with choice, though they have little actually defense from a focused hunter.

Habitat[]

Shine-Fish can be found commonly in fresh water streams and rivers, as well as some lakes. Since they are not native to the North American continent they required human introduction to these environments, and it is not uncommon to find two or more nearby bodies of water, with only one having Shine-fish in them.
